Republican secretary of state nominee Kris Kobach announced the support of his two former Republican opponents Tuesday. Elizabeth Ensley and J.R. Clayes, who both campaigned against Kobach, have decided to endorse the Kansas City law professor.
“I am truly grateful to both J.R. and Elizabeth for their support and friendship. I greatly look forward to working with them in the coming months to ensure a Republican victory in November.”
Both Clayes and Ensley offered words of support in the press release announcing their endorsement. Both join a growing list of people who have also endorsed the Kobach campaign including Attorney General John Ashcroft and former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson.
Kobach campaigned on election reform including requiring all voters to show a photo ID and proof of citizenship before completing a ballot. He will face Democrat incumbent Chris Biggs in November.
