The 1st District’s lone Democrat candidate Alan Jilka announced a television ad buy Monday. The former Salina mayor purchased a 90-second ad spot which will air on Tuesday, July 20, during the KWCH 5 p.m. newscast, Fox Kansas at 9 p.m. newscast and on Wednesday, July 21, during the CW 7 a.m. newscast.
The buy does not equal the airtime purchased by most of the race’s Republican candidates, who have ads airing daily, but it is a big step in Jilka’s campaign and means he has raised a decent amount of money. In a release Monday, Jilk’a campaign noted it had a “strong finish” to its second-quarter fundraising. We should know exact figures later this week as candidates will publish their contribution and debt statements.
