Jerry Moran issued his response to President Barack Obama’s remarks on immigration Thursday saying the country needs action, not speech to solve the problem of illegal immigration.
“President Obama’s rhetoric doesn’t match his actions when it comes to securing the border,” Moran said. “Despite the need for more personnel along the border with Mexico, President Obama is only sending 1,200 National Guard troops. More troops and Border Patrol agents are needed to stop violence along the border and protect Americans.”
“I also disagree with the President’s support for the DREAM Act. The federal government must enforce our laws and not reward illegal behavior,” said Moran.
Moran is a sponsor of the leading border security bill in Congress, H.R. 3308, the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement or SAVE, Act. The legislation aims to strengthen border security by increasing border patrol and using technology to monitor the country’s boundaries.
