Parkinson endorses Holland

Gov. Mark Parkinson endorsed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Holland Monday.

From the Holland campaign:

Governor Parkinson is admired on both sides of the aisle for his success in moving our state forward during tough economic times, and I am honored to have his endorsement. I share Governor Parkinson’s commitment to bipartisanship, fiscal responsibility and getting our economy back on track.

Not exactly a surprise.

  1. Not a surprise? What? This is a big score for Holland! An endorsement from the sitting Governor of Kansas. The people put Parkinson in his seat and if he endorses… oh wait… we didn’t elect Parkinson? This is just an endorsement from a political appointment? Dang.

Well, at least Holland knows how to deal with endorsements. Just last week (or so) he issued a statement that he would neither pursue nor accept the endorsement of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce. Wow. This guy stands for something. He really put it to the Chamber – they’ll be reeling for years from this slap in the face.

On the other hand, since I have as good a chance of getting that endorsement or becoming governor as him, I too now issue a statement that I will neither pursue nor accept an endorsement from the Kansas Chamber of Commerce! On that note, I will also neither pursue nor accept an endorsement from President Obama, Jon Bon Jovi, leaves from the ivy vine, ninjas, sandstone rocks, the number “4” and letter “W”, pencil manufacturers, U2 when they were still an angry Irish band, nor spring breezes. Maybe these people (and objects) will learn they cannot control the political process.
