  2. When it comes down to it Kansans are smart enough to see through bs rhetoric and know who will serve them best.

  3. Kansans are smart enough to look past the 2 faced Moran who tried to sell his vote for the 2001 trade bill (which was essential to the economic well being of his constituents) to President Bush in exchange for a fundraiser in Western Kansas. Then he comes home and talks about how much of a fighter he is when in all reality, he is truly just another self-entitled, “whats in it for me” politician.

  4. I guess we will see what Kansas believes in August and then go from there. I’m prepared to support either candidate. I just wish the negativity would stop!

    • I am just sick of people who have nothing new to say they just copy and paste press releases. Todd has been a great congressman and so has Jerry. I am sick of all the lies, personal attacks, and exaggerations.

  5. As far as I am concerned, Moran’s record is not something to be “negative” about. He should be PROUD of everything he has voted for. Tiahrt is doing him a huge favor by revealing all of Moran’s good deads and all that ” hard work ” that Moran keeps referring to. As a matter of fact, Jerry should have this stuff all over the place. Moran needs to defend his record and expose it for all of his district to see. After all, as a first district voter, it is my RIGHT to know what Moran has done to deserve my vote for the second time. He serves me and thus, everything that he has done as a public servant is fair game in this campaign. He needs to quite hiding behind the “negative campaign” card and stand behind his record.

  6. While I’m not going to out anyone’s real identity, maverick is not Vicki Tiahrt.

  7. kansasuspatriots- you are right about one thing….Vicki Tiahrt does not live in the 1st district. However, you are wrong about another….Vicki does not live in Virginia either. She lives, and I know this will come as a big shock, but in Goddard, outside of Wichita, which of course, as well all know, is in the 4th. Sounds like you have been drinking too much of the kool aid from the moran camp.

    • Yeah, patriot, get it right. We all know Todd & Vicki live in Goddard in even years, and Virginia in odd years. The good news is, when he loses, they can spend the even years in Virginia too!

  8. Can’t. Stop. Laughing.

  9. Lots of people like to complain about so called ‘negative ads’ however from what I have seen in the Tiahrt ads, all the statements are documented and no one is making up false charges or smearing anyone’s character with untrue information (that would be truly negative). Look up the votes and articles used in the Tiahrt ads and tell me that they are made up….votes are votes and they are forever. Negative ads work and no one remembers the content of positive ads. No politician likes being taken to the woodshed for a bad vote or policy statement, however simply calling the revelation of bad votes ‘negative’ is no defense at all. If candidates cannot stand scrutiny of their past performance then they should drop out of the race.

    • Are you kidding me JDTaft?

Half of those are procedural votes and ridiculous half-truths. Tiahrt can dish it out but he sure can’t take it. He votes for “fee increases” and earmarks about 10 times the amount as Jerry. NOT TO MENTION, TODD TIAHRT voted to expand Cash for Clunkers by 2 billion and he voted right along with the dadgum Bush agenda for big government neo-con spending. WHY ISNT THE MORAN CAMP talking more about that?

Todd has been in favor of taxes before…. oh I remember. He needs to watch it.

Stay classy Jerry, but show Kansas who this used-car salesman from Wichita who spins the truth and skews the numbers – really is.

      Posted by kansas4ever | June 16, 2010, 9:41 pm
      • I challenge you or jerry Moran to find this alleged list of tax increases that Tiahrt voted for….and by the way those are NOT procedural votes – every vote means something and yes – Jerry Moran did in fact vote to pass democrat budgets – not one but twice 2000 and 2005 (both of which included tax increases). It’s a fact – it’s not procedural – and Kansans have a right to know about it.

        Posted by jdtaft | June 17, 2010, 4:31 pm
      • Jerry took a stand against a Republican budget that increased the deficit and the Tiahrt people are now claiming he voted against a tax cut. Well I do not care who proposes big government spending I am sick of it and opposed to it and I am glad Jerry Moran is too. The Tiahrt people can twist it however they want but the facts speak for themselves. Tiahrt is a Rove/Hastert/Bush lapdog and Moran is his own man who stands for Kansas no matter what.

  10. Congrats Team Tiahrt. Looks like you’re learned how to clear your web browser.

  11. I personally don’t want a Senator that just votes party lines….or a Senator that has a long long lonnnnggg history of vying for earmarks…or a Senator that will just be familiarizing himself with the state of Kansas. Gotta hand it to Tiahrt, he’s really become a pro at securing pet projects and he should really be proud of the very small, yet very conniving and hateful group of followers on Twitter. Bravo.

    Posted by kansassitysinic | June 17, 2010, 12:53 am
  12. Half truths? Jerry is saying that his votes are only half true? Whatever does that mean? Why does Jerry preach about how terrible earmarks are if he uses them? I don’t hear Tiahrt doing that. He will tell you he voted for earmarks and what they are for. They stopped the BTK killer in Wichita and went to fund an inner city park to keep kids off of the street. Moran’s earmarks funded the McPherson Opera House although he tries to hide it. If anybody is full of half truths it is Jerry Moran. He says he didn’t vote for a single bailout in his ads when he did in fact vote for a 400 billion dollar bailout for the Las Vegas tourism industry. Or how about when he tried to tell a Leavenworth audience that he was endorsed by Kansans for Life. What? Tiahrt was last time I checked. A more recent blatant lie was when he told the KRA convention last week that he proposed the conceal carry bill in the state senate. Guess that didn’t look to well when Tiahrt’s wife walked in with the newspaper in her hand proving that TIahrt, not Jerry was the author.

  13. Funny. I didn’t know about it until it showed up on the Moran status feed.

    Posted by maverick1985 | June 17, 2010, 5:04 am
  14. You are right. Many are on the Tiahrt page and vice versa.

    Posted by maverick1985 | June 17, 2010, 9:29 pm
  15. To all of the above:

First of all, OF COURSE Moran and Tiahrt are promoting this poll on their FB pages and elsewhere. Polling is how candidates get a feel for the mood of the voters. It is a valuable tool. If a campaign has to pay for a poll in their district, it can cost thousands of dollars. While this particular poll is not scientific, its outcome is certainly useful to candidates during the campaign process. Jayhawkhero: To consider promoting this poll on one’s FB page as “weak” shows you are uninformed about the process. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I would use the word “bold.” Neither candidate can follow you to the poll website and force you to vote for him. GET REAL!

You each, obviously, have very strong opinions about your candidate. Instead of wasting your time bantering on this forum, get out and do something to help your candidate. You don’t like the negativity? Then go out and take a stand on the good things your candidate has done for your state, your neighbors, your family. Inform yourself, so you can inform others, and not just bicker with one another. Here are some sites to help you:

http://www.opensecrets.org – info on campaign contributors, individual, PACs, special interest groups. A good way to understand why a politician votes the way he or she does is by looking at who gives them the big bucks.

http://www.votetracker.com – find out how candidates have voted on any issue.

thomas.loc.gov – READ THE BILLS yourself. Make the politicians accountable. KNOW what you are talking about.

Oh, and, stop the personal attacks. It serves no purpose and, frankly, it just makes you look stupid.

  16. HA! This poll is not scientific or anything like a real poll, or a real “feel” for what “voters” think… So much cross promotion… people clearing voting history to vote multiple times… it’s really just entertaining to watch the numbers change after Tiahrt sends out emails about it.

    Posted by kansas4ever | June 18, 2010, 10:40 pm
  17. You mean after Moran sends out emails about it

    Posted by firstdistrictvoter | June 18, 2010, 10:55 pm
  18. Right on JDTaft! The purpose of ads, speeches, campaigns and such is to explain one’s position and that of your opponent. Having run for Congress several times with little opposition Mr. Moran and his staff have never been in a real campaign; never had to hustle for the vote and explain one’s record. Mr. Tiahrt has been involved in several tough campaigns, been outspent sometimes 2-3 times for every dollar of his spent (especially in the early campaigns).

Folks, we are not voting for homecoming king. We are trying to decide which man will stand firm in the face of a coming storm. Which man is tough enough to withstand the onslaught that will come when we voters, that make up this state, figure out that there are no more goodies in the federal cupboard.

These two men are seeking a job in which the winner will be vilified, slandered, cussed and damned when they bring home the news that Big Government’s pockets are empty and those services, benefits, payrolls, and such must be cut.

Mr. Tiahrt has withstood, the Bloomberg mayoral New York Times attacks, a Pelosi witchhunt and political pressures to tax and expand the fed. Mr. Moran has not faced those pressures nor has he lead the fight on the floor of Congress or been a target like Mr. Tiahrt.

For this time in our history I want Todd Tiahrt, an oak tree standing in the Kansas prairie not Jerry Moran waving in the wind.
