Wasinger comments on SCOTUS pick

First District candidate Rob Wasinger had the following to say on President Obama’s nomination of current Solicitor General and former Harvard Law School Dean Elana Kagan for the U.S. Supreme Court.

“Instead of nominating an independent jurist with a legal record that could be closely examined, Obama chose a friend who I believe will act as a rubberstamp for his liberal agenda. When President Bush nominated Harriet Miers, I worked with Senator Brownback to lead the behind-the-scenes opposition to her nomination. I hope that Democrats in the Senate will put principle above politics and demand that Kagan’s nomination be withdrawn.”
