It seems the Democrats are determined to make their Senate primary as interesting as possible, because that field is now up to three.
State Sen. David Haley has entered the fray. He previously ran for Secretary of State in 2002 and 2006, and has served in the legislature since 1995. He’ll face Charles Schollenberger and Lisa Johnston.
In a statement announcing his candidacy, Haley said:
“We here in the heartland can indeed be socially progressive and fiscally conservative. When Kansas virtually ignores party labels, the result is the ability to compromise on crucial issues of the day.”
Can one of these three break a pattern that’s held since 1932, when Kansas last sent a Democrat to the Senate? We’ll see.
