U.S. Senator Pat Roberts formally threw his support behind Republican nominee Rep. Jerry Moran to succeed Sen. Sam Brownback in the Senate.
“We need Jerry Moran in the U.S. Senate to help us stand up and fight against the bailouts, the spending, the debt.” said Roberts at a Monday press conference in Topeka announcing the endorsement. “I’m going to be proud to serve the people of Kansas side-by-side with Jerry.”
Joining Roberts was Kansas Republican Party Chair Amanda Adkins, who added, “I am proud to be standing here with the two leaders who are going to take on Harry Reid’s agenda, Western Kansas style.”
Moran will face Democratic nominee Lisa Johnston in November’s general election. Moran is heavily favored to win the race.
Roberts is expected to announce his official endorsement of Mike Pompeo, Republican nominee for the 4th Congressional District seat, later today.
