We usually don’t link to other publication’s stories, but the Topeka Capital-Journal ran a story about First District candidate Tim Huelskamp that’s challenges several statements made in an earlier ad by Huelskamp on how he went against the system and was kicked off a committee for doing so.
As was also reported by the Associated Press:
State Senate President Steve Morris and former state Sen. Bill Bunten — who now is Topeka’s mayor — say Sen. Tim Huelskamp was ousted from the Senate Ways and Means Committee in 2003 because he wasn’t a team player.
The story goes on to say that Huelskamp couldn’t be “depended on by leadership,” in the words of former State Senator, and current Topeka Mayor, Bill Bunten.
This, of course, didn’t sit well with the Huelskamp campaign.
“It’s no surprise that Steve Morris and the rest of the tax-hiking, Topeka establishment are attacking Tim Huelskamp, especially since Mr. Morris has been raising money for fellow tax-hiker Jim Barnett,” said Huelskamp Campaign Manager David Ray. “Tim Huelskamp stood up to the Barnett-Morris spending spree in Topeka, and that’s difficult for them to deal with.”
An invitation provided by the Huelskamp campaign shows that Morris is listed as a host, along with several others, for an Aug. 12 Barnett fundraiser in Topeka.
